Home Cooking-
I’m sitting in my new friends place in Kathmandu with no electricity. It’s Lax Man who was the guide of the group I joined on Everest Base Camp trek. He and I hung out today and he invited me back to his place to cook me a traditional Nepalese meal, to which I was (am) ecstatic. All of Kathmandu has scheduled power outages to conserve energy and his grid just went off about 30 minutes ago. I’m watching him cook as his friend holds a candle over the stove for him. There isn’t much I can see, but it smells amazing. Lax Man and two other guys share 2 rooms between them. Each room is the size of a tiny bedroom and one doubles as the kitchen as well. They are treating me as an honored guest and honored to be here is exactly how I feel. It doesn’t get any more authentic than this.
